There’s a reason you only hear about Florida Man and not Jersey Man or fucking Kentucky Man?

Cuz believe me, Kentucky Man…. If you knew… So much more of a psychopath, like Hannibal on a bath-salt binge. I mean what else are you gonna do when corn is all you have?

The reason is the “Sunshine Law”:

“Florida began its tradition of openness back in 1909 with the passage of Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes or the “Public Records Law.” This law provides that any records made or received by any public agency in the course of its official business are available for inspection, unless specifically exempted by the Florida Legislature. Over the years, the definition of what constitutes “public records” has come to include not just traditional written documents such as papers, maps and books, but also tapes, photographs, film, sound recordings and records stored in computers.

Florida's Government-in-the-Sunshine Law was enacted in 1967. Today, the Sunshine Law regarding open government can be found in Chapter 286 of the Florida Statutes.”

Basically it means that UNLIKE EVERY OTHER CRAZY ASS STATE Florida gives less of a shit about it’s citizens and privacy than any other fucked up shithole like Alabama. It allows public access to any government record, meaning if you’re arrested for something dumb, unlike other states that have to wait until a conviction has been instated, the second that happens, your local news station can run a story on it, regardless of the validity of it.

I’d like to believe everyone is aware of the former American belief in innocent until proven guilty.

I’ve never been convicted of anything, but boy do I have a fuck-load of cute mugshots on google images.

This doesn’t happen anywhere else in the USA

I think my point is you’ve never met anyone from the Midwest, but that Slenderman stabbing by those middle school girls went down there.

There are much more empty, boring places than Florida. And places like that get far stranger than anywhere else.

They just give a bit more of a shit about privacy.
